Land Rover Durban-Hillcrest Villagers Rugby Club were hosted by Harlequins RC, on the Bluff, on Saturday afternoon, in the fourth round of the KZNRU First Division.

In the opening game, Villagers 2nd XV soon stamped their dominance on the game, racing to a decisive lead at the end of the first half. Harlequins however were not going to go down too easily & began to take advantage of the visitor's lack of concentration, and bounced back quickly. Eventually Hillcrest picked up the tempo to secure a deserved 19-14 win. Try scorers were Chase Dekker, Carl Stow and Justyn Ebben, with Ebben slotting two conversions. Men of the Match were Chase Decker and Cohen Kok.

The "Mighty Quins" drew first blood in the main game of the afternoon, and by half time, it was anyone's game. In the first part of the second half Villagers took a decisive lead and seemed set to win the game. A late rush of play making by the Quins' halfback saw the home side snatch back the deficit and end the game with a draw, leaving the lads from the 'Crest, miserably disappointed with a game, that they should have/could have won. Try scorers were Wesley Volek and Dolfie Brits with a penalty from Henkie Groenewald. Men of the Match were Dolfie Britz and Kyle Spowart with the biggest "hit of the game" going to Henkie Groenewald

Whilst Villagers 1st VX maintain their unbeaten record so far, this weekend they travel to Empangeni to play Richards Bay, and know all too well, that they will need to raise their game, and concentrate on honing their skills, and improving their focus for a full 80 minutes.
