HVRC remain top of the log with massive win last week.


The Land Rover Durban-Hillcrest Villagers Rugby Club continued to pick up further momentum into their 2017 KZNRU First Division Rugby Season, with another two convincing wins'.

Villagers hosted their second home game of the season, against Harlequins Rugby Club, from the Bluff , at the Durban Shongweni Club on Wednesday evening.

Villagers 2nd XV recovered their early season form , with a well contested 22-15 win over of their opposition. Men of the Match went to Roben Anderson (Forwards) & Tristan Irvine (Backs)

The Villagers 1st XV once again turned on their "afterburners" from the onset, with a flurry of tries, and stunned their Bluff opposition with a 73-0 whitewash. Villagers showed exceptional discipline, and entertained the large crowd of spectators, to an evening of high tempo running rugby.

At the post match address, Head Coach Mike de Kock & 2nd XV Coach Jarred Chiochetti, were equally complementary of their squads' fine performances.

1st XV Men of the Match, went to Michael Moxley (Forwards) & Tinus Schoeman (Backs).

'Quins Vice Chairman, André Hendricks acknowledged Villagers' exceptional performance on the night, but warned that 'Quins would be far more competitive at their return encounter.

Villagers 2nd & 1st XV have a well-earned bye this weekend, and play the long awaited "Highway Derby" against Westville Old Boys Rugby Club @ the Jimmy Bellows Grounds, in Westville on Saturday 13th May @ 14h00 & 15h30 respectively.

The Turaco Energy Hillcrest Villagers 3rd XV host Crusaders at the Durban Shongweni Club on Wednesday 3rd May at 20h00.
