47-7 Victory to our 1st XV vs Ballito Dolphins

The Land Rover Durban Hillcrest Villagers hosted an injury plagued Ballito Dolphins team on Friday night and only our 1st XV took to the field.

While Ballito arrived determined eager to prove a point, the Villagers were still chasing their goal of top spot and determined not to let anything stop them.

The home side opened with an early converted try and kept the hammer down on the Ballito side for much of the first half.

Ballito’s Spirited defense and we'll executed attack from the visitors kept Hillcrest on their toes but their failure to convert pressure to points kept them scoreless for the first half.

Villagers on the other hand crossed the line 3 more in the half securing their bonus point and ending the first 40 with the score 26-0. First blood in the second half went to the visitors with a well-executed move from inside the Hillcrest 22. But the Hillcrest Villagers rallied quickly running in 3 more tries by the half way point. Despite the pride and tenaciousness with which the Ballito Dolphins played, the Villagers were ultimately too strong and the game ended 47-7 in favor of the home team.

This was the perfect ending to the preparation for next week's top of the table encounter with log leaders Richards Bay which Villagers host on Saturday 9 July at the Durban Shongweni.
